How to have a Zero Waste Week

The term 'Zero Waste' can seem pretty daunting at first, we live in a world where pretty much everything comes in some form of packaging, so where do you even begin?!
You're in luck because we're making this Zero Waste Week super easy for you, we are sharing with you our Top 5 Sustainable Swaps you can make to reduce your waste.
1) Plastic free deodorant
Switching to a natural deodorant has never been easier, with brands like The Natural Deodorant Co. The creamy balm melts into skin effortlessly and is perfect for daily use on all skin types. A clever combination of antibacterial magnesium and sodium bicarbonate provide all-day odour protection. Coconut oil and shea butter nourish delicate underarm skin. Once you have finished your deodorant, you can either recycle the glass jar it comes in, or repurpose it and use it for something else - genius!
2) Swap out clingfilm for beeswax wraps
Beeswax wraps are a great alternative to clingfilm, not only do they keep food fresher as beeswax is more breathable than plastic, they can be reused over and over again - you simply wash them with cool soapy water after use. After around a year you can either re-wax your wraps or compost them!
3) Switch to reusable period wear
We had to include ourselves in our favourite sustainable swaps didn't we! The average person that has a period will use an average of 12,000 disposable sanitary products through out their lifetime, producing 5 tonnes of waste. Making the switch to reusable period products has never been easier, our reusable range includes period pads and period cups. Our reusable period pads can be worn and reused 150 times, and last up to ten years.
4) Replace your plastic bottle with a reusable alternative
Switching to a reusable bottle is not only better for the planet, it's also a great way to save money. Our favourite reusable bottle is from Ocean Bottle, who create amazing reusable bottles that can keep your drink hot or cold, and for every purchase, Ocean Bottle save plastic bottles from the ocean.
5) Ditch the disposable cutlery
It is very easy to get caught out without cutlery when you're eating on the go, that's why we think bamboo cutlery is the perfect sustainable swap to help you reduce how much plastic you end up using. We love Sasstainable for their bamboo cutlery set, perfect to pop in your bag so you always have it to hand if you buy food when you're out and about.
Whether you make one change this Zero Waste Week, or you simply start to look into alternatives that you can swap out to replace plastic, remember that every small change you make has a bigger impact. We thought we'd end with with one of our favourite quotes;
"If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a bed with a mosquito." – Dalai Lama
